Life Groups

Transforming Lives by Connecting People to God and One Another

 What are Life Groups?

Life Groups help people grow spiritually by building relationships with other Christians and by giving people a place to explore how the Bible applies to their lives.

Where/When - Most groups meet every other week, either at the church or at a member’s home in Sienna Plantation.  A few groups meet weekly.

Who – Anyone, member or visitor, married or single, is welcome in our Life Groups.  Some Life Groups are based upon a common stage of life.   Several are kid-friendly.

What Happens – Life Groups participate in Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.  Meetings typically last 1.5 hours, with half the time spent socializing and half the time spent discussing a Bible passage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Life Group?

A Life Group is a small group of 8 - 15 people who gather together regularly to develop friendships, study the Bible, and growth in their relationships with God.  Many of these groups are of similar ages and life stages.

Why should I get involved in a Life Group?

Everyone needs relationships in their lives - someone to listen and laugh with;  someone to cry and celebrate with;  someone to encourage us and to challenge us.  Life Groups provide a place where you can 'do life together' with others.  It is a place to belong and to grow as a person.

Who attends a Life Group?

Anyone!  Adults who are married, single, with children, without children, or 'empty-nesters' -- whatever your age group, whether you are new to The Harvest or have been attending for a while, we have a group for you!

When do Life Groups meet?

Life Groups may meet any day of the week at any time.  For more information about groups that are currently meeting, please check online or visit the Information Table in the church lobby.

Where do Life Groups meet?

They can meet in the home of the group leader or a member of the group, in restaurants, or in the church building.

How long does a Life Group last?

Life Groups typically last for a 'season':  8-13 weeks.  Some groups meet every week;  others only meet on alternate weeks.  After the semester, group members decide if they want to continue meeting together for the next semester.

New Life Groups start each semester for about three months and then take 3-4 weeks off before the next semester.
      Fall Semester:   September - December
      Spring Semester:  January - April
      Summer Semester:  June - August

What is the length of each Life Group gathering?

Groups typically meet for 1.5 to 2 hours.

What do Life Groups study?

Curriculum is selected by our Discipleship Team.  We offer many different types of curricula, such as Experiencing God, Financial Peace University, various Bible book studies, introductory courses, Marriage Enrichment, spiritual formation groups, and topical studies.

What is the format of a Life Group?

Though each group will differ in how they do things, group time generally consists of Bible study, building relationships, discussion, and prayer.  Many groups also socialize around snacks or a light meal.

Is childcare provided for each Life Group?

With the blessing of our new building, we are able to offer childcare for some of our Life Groups.  The master-list shows which groups provide childcare.

When can I join a Life Group?

Anytime you want!  That's right . . . you can join a group any time you want.  If you are looking to join a group at the start of a semester, you will see plenty of Life Group publicity at church.   If you want to join a group mid-season, come by the Ministry Information Table in the church lobby and we will help you find a group to join.
