What to Expect

What is The Harvest? The Harvest is a community of people who are trying to fulfill their mission: “To Transform Lives by Connecting People to God and One Another”.  Simply put, we are committed to helping people live the lives God created them to live by establishing and deepening their relationship with God while making vital connections with other people.

For more specific information about the foundational theology of the church, please examine the “What We Believe” section of the website.

Why would I want to try The Harvest?

If your life is perfect, your spouse is perfect, your job is perfect and you are perfect, then this probably isn’t the place for you.  However, if you ever wondered if there is something more to life than what you are currently living, or  If you have ever thought that something was missing, The Harvest is the place to explore a relationship with God with people just like you.

Where and what times do you currently meet?

The Harvest recently moved into its new building at 9029 Sienna Ranch Road in Sienna Plantation (located across from Baines Middle School).  Similar services are offered at 9:10 and 10:40 each Sunday morning with the Harvest Cafe gathering between services. Children's ministry is offered during both services and our students meet between services for The Bridge.

What is a “normal” Sunday like?

We begin the morning with some music and refreshments as people gather.   This is a good time to have a conversation with friends and meet some new ones.  There will be a welcome at the beginning and the Lord’s Prayer at the end.  In between, you will have the opportunity to sing, listen to a relevant message, pray, reflect, or just sit back and take it all in.  At The Harvest, you will never be asked to participate in our Sunday morning gathering in a way that makes you uncomfortable.

What do you have for the children?

Children are very important to God and to The Harvest Church.
There are age appropriate teaching and activities for children 0-5th grade during both the 8:50 and 10:30 worship services. Babies and toddlers are lovingly cared for in a professionally staffed nursery along with parent helpers.

What about youth?

The junior high and high school students meet between services at 9:50 for The Bridge - a great time for our students to connect with one another and learn how to live the Christian life. In addition, the youth have a regular gatherings of the junior high and senior high along with summer camps and special events.

Can you describe your worship?

If we had to label the way we worship we would call it convergent.  Nothing is excluded.  You may sing a song you hear on the radio or a hymn you remember from your childhood.  At The Harvest, you can hear hymns, the creeds, as well as participate in seasonal worship emphases.  However, we will use the contemporary instrumentation, modern technology and media.
The goal is not to have worship exactly the same from week to week but to discover together how God should be worshiped and how our lives are impacted in light of that worship.
It's like having a box of crayons, if you have an eight pack, you use eight crayons.  If you have a 32 pack you have more options.  Our philosophy is not about only using contemporary or traditional worship elements, it is about worshiping God with the whole 64 pack.  It makes worship fun and meaningful.

Is The Harvest part of a denomination?

The short answer is yes.  The Harvest is part of the United Methodist Church.  However, the people who make up this community of faith come from diverse spiritual backgrounds.  Their backgrounds are Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Hindu, Agnostics, and some who have never even considered God before.  The Harvest strives to transcend denominational labels.  All are welcome.

Will The Harvest have a _____________?

There are many questions about the kinds of ministries the church will have in the future.  The answer really depends on you.  We hope to meet the needs of the community while empowering each member of the church to find and use the gifts God has given them.

How should I dress?

At The Harvest feel free to dress as you would like. Most of the people here will be dressed casually. A few will have ties and a few will be in shorts (when it is warm enough).

How can I get connected?

Life Groups are the main way to get connected. They are groups of people who like to get together and do something. Some groups study the bible while others play golf. If you want to get connected, this is the place to begin.

What do I do with my baby?

You can either have your baby in the service with you or take advantage of our nursery.  If your baby needs you during the service then one of the nursery workers will come and find you.

Who will be working with my children?

Not only do we have policies and procedures in place, but we also do a background check on everyone who works with children and youth. Our volunteers are trained and love working with children to help them grow in their walk with God.
